MICROCREDIT PROGRAM
Collateral-free finance for low-income households
ANANDO's microcredit program provides small, collateral-free loans to low-income households — the majority of them women — so they can build livelihoods, smooth income shocks and invest in their families. The program is licensed and supervised by the Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) under registration number 02060-01912-00232.
How the program works
Borrowers join a local group, complete a short financial-literacy orientation and then access a first loan sized to their business plan. Repayments are made in small weekly or monthly instalments, and each successfully repaid cycle unlocks a larger ceiling for the next one.
Loan products
- General loan — working capital for petty trade, tailoring, livestock rearing and other small enterprises.
- Agriculture loan — seasonal financing for seeds, inputs and irrigation, timed to the crop calendar.
- Micro-enterprise loan — larger amounts for borrowers who have graduated from earlier cycles and want to expand.
- Emergency / disaster loan — rapid, low-cost financing for households recovering from floods, cyclones or illness.
Who can apply
- Resident of a union where ANANDO operates a microcredit branch.
- Aged 18 or above, with a viable income-generating plan.
- Willing to join a borrower group and attend its regular meetings.
- No outstanding default with another microfinance institution.
Savings and financial protection
Every borrower maintains a savings account alongside their loan, which builds a personal buffer against emergencies and can be withdrawn under the terms set out in the member passbook. Interest rates, service charges and all other terms follow the ceilings set by the MRA and are disclosed in writing before any loan is disbursed.
